Obituary

Richard "Dick" E. Myers was born on October 11, 1935, to Richard Leroy Myers and Blanche Kaetzel Myers Jenkins. He passed away on December 10, 2024, at the age of 89.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Weston Jenkins; brother, Wayne Jenkins; grandson, Michael Plum; and sons-in-laws, Wayne Craig III and Roger Jeffrey Haupt.

He is survived by his son, Eric E. Myers; his sister, Nancy (David) Keener; his companion of many years, JoAnn Plum and her daughters, Judy Craig, Aleesa (Brian) Banzhoff, and Diane (Dave) Shade; grandchildren, Jason Banzhoff (Tirsa), Brandon Alloway, Katy Sergent (Andrew), Wayne Craig IV, (Laken) and Bradley Banzhoff (Kate); and great-grandchildren, Luna, Everly, Maizey, Jace, Milo, Callie, and Wayne V.

Dick graduated from North Hagerstown High School, Class of 1953. He served in the US Army, 101st Airborne, where he made 39 jumps.

Dick worked at National Cash Register Company (NCR) for 35 years as a field engineer. After retiring from there, he worked for 8 years at Paradise Farms owned by his friend, Jimmy Harp.

Dick was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 42 and 517, Potomac Fish and Game Club, Improved Order of Redmen, North American Rod and Gun Club, and Seldom Seen Hunting Club.

He loved to hunt, travel, spend time at the cabin, and tell funny jokes, but most of all he loved spending time with JoAnn and her family.

Dick was a special man to so many people.

A special thank you to the nurses and aides at Coffman Nursing Home for the exceptional care given to him in his final days.

It was Dick's wishes not to have any services.
