Richard "Barney" Lee Barnhart, 81, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away October 4, 2025, at Julia Manor.

Born March 27, 1944, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Lonford P. and Mary L. Barnhart.

Barney graduated from North Hagerstown High School. He practiced the Catholic faith throughout his life. He dedicated 44 years of service to Mack Truck before retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed attending auctions, watching horse races, and dining out with family and friends.

He is survived by his grandson, Braden Durning; his goddaughter, Heather Whittaker, and her family; as well as special friends Gary, Sam, and Mike. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Charlie, and many other dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Nicholas L. Barnhart, and brother, Ronald E. Barnhart.

There will be no services.
