REV. DANIEL S. ESHLEMAN, 66, of 1625 Woodlands Run, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Monday, March 22, 2004 at the Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D. C. Born April 18, 1937 in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Daniel Irvin and Grace Beulah Williams Eshleman. He graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1955. He was a graduate of Grace College, Winona Lake, Indiana in 1961, and Grace Theological Seminary in 1964 where he received his Master of Divinity. He studied toward his Doctor of Ministry degree at Grace Theologial Seminary. He was ordained to the Grace Brethren Ministry in May of 1965. He pastored Grace Brethren Churches in Findlay, Ohio; Mt. Laurel, New Jersey; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Roanoke, Virginia and Valley Grace Brethren Church in Hagerstown, Maryland. After sixteen years of ministry at the Grace Brethren Church in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania he retired. Upon his retirement, he returned to his home church, Calvary Grace Brethren Church where he served as Pastor of Senior Adult Ministries, from 2002 up to the present. He was Moderator of the Southern, Mid-Atlantic and Northern Atlantic Districts of the Grace Brethren Church; Chairman of various District Mission Boards; Chairman of various District Ministerial Associations; Chairman of Northern Atlantic District Ministerial Examining Board; served on Camp and Youth Committees in various Districts; Part-time professor of Bible at Shenandoah Bible College, Roanoke, Virginia from 1973 to 1978; Consumer Representative on the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Psychologists from 1981 to 1986; Coordinator of "The Brethren Hour" on WCRH-FM from 1984 to 1987; Voted "Man of the Year" by Williamsport, Maryland Rotary Club in 1986; Representative of District Governor, Rotary District 7390 from 1993 to 1994; Past President of Donegal Area Rotary Club from 2001 to 2002; Past President of Elizabethtown Ministerium; served as an advisor to Grace House Ministry of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Member of The Fellowship Council of Grace Brethren Churches from 1991 to 1995; Voted "Pastor of the Year" by the Association of Grace Brethren Ministers in 2001; and current member of the Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown. He was a member of the Calvary Grace Brethren Church. He is survived by his wife, Nancy L. Stoner Eshleman, to whom he was married on June 20, 1959; three daughters, Lou Ann Myers, and husband, Rev. Roger Myers, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Carol M. Barger, and husband, Eric Barger, of Hagerstown, and Christy S. Spicer, and husband, James L. Spicer, of Hagerstown; one son, Daniel P. Eshleman, and wife, Amy Dibert Eshleman, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Kenneth R. Eshleman of Hagerstown, and Willie I. Eshleman of Maugansville, Maryland; one grandson, Harrison D. Barger of Hagerstown, and one granddaughter, Hannah M. Barger of Hagerstown; and three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by one sister, Pauline A. Mitchell, one infant daughter, and one infant grandson. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p. m. Friday at the Valley Grace Brethren Church, 17310 Gay Street, Hagerstown. Rev. Douglas Courter, and Rev. Glen A. Miller will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends at the Valley Grace Brethren Church on Friday from 4 to 7 p. m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Grace Brethren Church, 115 Bryan Place, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740.
