RAYMOND WILLIAM BARNES, JR., 76, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on March 25, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown. Born April 26, 1936, in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Raymond William Barnes, Sr. and Jennie N. Stoner Barnes. He was employed by Mack Truck, Inc. for thirty-eight years, retiring February 1, 2005. He had various other jobs before going to Mack. He was a lifetime member of the Greencastle Rescue Hose Company, a member of American Legion, Greencastle Post 373 (Frank L. Carbaugh Home Association), Mt. Pisgah Masonic Lodge No. 443, Greencastle, Harrisburg Consistory, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Mack Truck U. A. W. Local 171, Scottish Rite Free Masonry NMJ, and A.A.R.P. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Kay (Rhodes) Barnes; three children, Kathy Cordell, and husband, Doug, Kevin Barnes, and wife, Virginia, and Kerrie Petrunak, and husband, Robert, all of Greencastle; two stepchildren, Ronnie Mongan, and husband, Jeff, and Tonya Poplin, all of Hagerstown; two granddaughters, whom he and his wife were raising, Samantha Poplin, and Sarah Blair, at home; five grandchildren, Emily Mongan, Shawn Cordell, Amanada O'Keefe, and husband, James, and Kimberly Lewis, and husband, Carl, and Taylor Petrunak; two great-grandchildren, Micah and Sarah; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Cassidy and Jack; one brother, Robert Barnes, and wife, Pam of Chambersburg; two sisters, Nancy Henry, and husband Daryl, and Karen Barnes, all of Greencastle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Cynthia Ruth Poplin-Blair. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a. m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Craig Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p. m. at the funeral home.
