Ralph Walker, 80 of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2013. He died at home under the care of Hospice of Washington County and was surrounded by his wife and family as he was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior. Ralph was born August 28, 1933 in Polk County, N.C., he was the son of the late Roland and Rosa Mae Laughter Walker. He lived for many years in Hendersonville, N.C. He graduated from Edneyville High School in Edneyville, N.C. in 1952. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War. Ralph was employed by Mack Truck of Hagerstown and retired from service in July of 1993. He is survived by his wife, Laurel Resh Walker, who was the love and light of his life for nearly 50 years; three children, Stephen Walker and wife Ivy, Douglas Walker and wife Julie, and Dawn Walker Emeigh and husband Roy; four grandchildren, Stephanie Walker Parker, Parker Emeigh, Nathan Walker and Audrey Walker; two great-grandchildren Abigail and Roman Parker; and his only remaining close relative, a niece, Inez Taylor. He was the youngest of eight children and was preceded in death by his siblings, Russell Walker, Fred Walker, Stanley Walker, Mae Sain, Pauline Jackson, Mattie Cairens and Dalla Green; and a grandchild, Casey Walker. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Reverend Bradford W. Reaves will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
