RALPH LEON SMITH, 67, of 16835 Petmar Circle, Hagerstown, MD., died on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital. Born January 30, 1942 in Hagerstown, MD., he was the son of the late James Fred and Lena Catherine Litten Smith. He was retired from Mack Trucks. He was a member of the Eagles, Inc. in Waynesboro, Pa., Moose Club of Waynesboro and the American Legion, Post 211 in Funkstown. He is survived by his longtime companion, Judy Mongan; four daughters, Cathie Paine of Anson, Maine, Karen Michael of Leitersburg, MD., Tara Mongan and Tammy Mongan, both of Hagerstown; two sons, Phillip Smith of Hedgesville, WV., and Brion Mongan of Mercersburg, Pa.; a sister, June Mellott of Hagerstown; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Smith. Funeral services will be private. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, donations are to go towards helping needy children. Arrangements are by Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD.
