RALPH MICHAEL HOVIS, 74, of Hagerstown, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2014 at Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown, MD, Born April 9, 1940 in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Ralph Calvin and Mary Margaret Barnhart Hovis. Ralph was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren brought a sparkle to his eyes. Ralph was a regular at Challenger Little League Baseball games cheering his Megan on. His loyal dogs Wally and Ozzie will always be waiting for him to come home. When he was younger he was employed at A&P and Super Fresh Food Stores for 30 years and retired in 1986. Later he worked at Hoffman Meats for 25 years. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by a sister. Doreen Hovis. Ralph is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Hovis; one daughter, Marianne Morningstar and husband Ted of Hagerstown; one son, Michael Hovis of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; two sisters, Christine Shives of Hagerstown, and Rosemarie Harbaugh of Cascade; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 8, 10am, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 17630 Virginia Ave. Hagerstown, MD. 21740. The Rev. MSGR. Richard Hilgarten will be celebrant.
