RALPH WILLIAM HASTINGS, 77, of 12320 Delwood Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Washington County Hospital. Born June 25, 1926 in Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Harry and Cora Flook Hastings. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy. He was employed with the Lone Star Cement Company for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion, Clear Spring Post 222; the Alsatia Club; the F.O.P. Pangborn Lodge; Engine #3 Juniors Fire Department; and the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firemen's Association. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Edna J. Robinson Hastings; two sons, D. Jeffrey Hastings, and William Hastings, both of Hagerstown; two sisters, Catherine Uzlac, and Patsy Garnes, both of Hagerstown; two brothers, Frederick Hastings of Smithsburg, Maryland, and Carl Hastings of Hagerstown; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by one brother, Earl Hastings. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Monday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard. Rev. Louis L. Emerick will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the American Legion, Clear Spring Post 222. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p. m.
