RACHEL JOHANNA KERSHNER, 82, of Myersville, MD, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at her home. Born November 5, 1935 in Downsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd C. and Icie E. Smith Ludy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred J. Kershner. She was previously employed with Western Maryland Hospital and retired from Washington County Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Myersville. Rachel was a member of the Nightingales, the 1956 Lunch Bunch, V.F.W Auxiliary of Hagerstown and Elks Club. She is survived by two sons, David L. Moats and John P. Moats; two step-daughters, Sue Hatch and Jeanne Jarvis; five sisters, Martha Flook, Mary Younkers, Ruth Rinehart, Esther Barton and Naomi Noel; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Moats, Jr.; step-son, Ronald J. Kershner and four brothers, Cyrus Ludy, Paul Ludy, Thomas Ludy and Clarence Ludy. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Pastor David Howell will officiate. Interment will be in St. Marks Lutheran Cemetery in Wolfsville, MD. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 24, 2017 at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holly Place, 268 South Potomac Street, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or the charity of ones choice.
