R. JOANN BECKLEY SAUNDERS, 77, of Hagerstown, Maryland, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Williamsport Nursing Home. Born September 8, 1935, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Walter P. Beckley, Sr. and Mary Pearl Harsh Beckley. She graduated from Hagerstown High School. She worked part time at Foltz Manufacturing Company. JoAnn was a lifelong member of Salem Reformed Church, where she served as Deacon and Elder on the Consistory. She served on many committees at the church. She sang on the altar choir, and was a Sunday School teacher for small children, for many years. She is survived by her husband, Bruce S. Saunders Sr., whom she married in April of 1955. JoAnn has one son, Bruce S. Saunders, Jr., and wife, Donna; one sister, Margaret Sprecher; three grandchildren, Derek Saunders, Todd Saunders, and Heather Jenkins; four great-grandchildren, Lexi Saunders, Chase Saunders, Derek Saunders, Jr., and Trinity Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Plank, Betty Eckstine, Elizabeth Grab, Edith Seibert, and Genevieve Schnebly; and three brothers, Elmer Beckley, Paul Beckley, and Walter P. Beckley, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Monday at Salem Reformed Church. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. John A. Toms will officiate. Family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown on Sunday from 6 to 8 p. m., and one hour prior to the service at the church.
