Phyllis May Schleigh, 79, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Meritus Medical Center and is now wither Lord and Savior.
Born February 10, 1942 in Sissonville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Opal (Facemyre) Edens.
Phyllis was a 1960 graduate of Sissonville High School.
She was a member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Williamsport, MD. She thoroughly enjoyed her many church friends socially and participating in church activities with them. Her specialty was making buckeye candy and was known as the "Buckeye Lady"; her apple d9umplings were also delicious. She served in many committees, as an usher, and deacon. She was awarded a lifetime membership in the Presbyterian Church Women's Organization.
She dearly loved her only daughter, Kimberly, and her only grandchild, Nicholas.
Phyllis is survived by her spouse, Gary Schleigh; daughter, Kimberly Betson; two sisters, Elberta Higdon (Ray) and Louise Tolliver (Don); one brother, Freddie Edens (Rita); two sisters-in-law, Anita Edens and Barbara Edens; one grandson, Nicholas Betson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Leon Edens and Milton Edens; and three sisters, Linda Edens, Arlene Serles, and Patsy Serles.
The family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD, on Monday, August 16, 2021, from 5-7pm.
A private graveside service will be held for the family. Rev. Mark Sandell, pastor, will officiate.
