Phyllis Ruth Luther, 91, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Fahrney Keedy Memorial Home. Born February 23, 1926 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Mary (Snyder) Stoner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew T. Luther, Jr. on November 14, 1990. Phyllis started working at Fairchild in 1944, right out of high school. She typed pilot and maintenance handbooks for the C119 planes. She also typed medical books at home for WYF Pryor for four years. Starting in 1964, she worked for the Washington County Courthouse where she retired after 26 years of service from 1964-1990. She also worked at the Jefferson House where she sold real estate. She made flower arrangements for Abbey Jane Flowers and Bens Flower Shop. She loved animals, especially her wonderful Doberman, Inga. Phyllis was a lifelong member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church where she was one of the first to be in the Cradle Roll. She was also active teaching children in the 1st and 2nd grade. Phyllis put everyones needs before her own. She was always willing to help anyone in her family. She is survived by three children, Andrew T. "Tom" Luther, III and his wife, Tracy, Larry S. Luther and his wife, Barbara, and Deborah S. Stone and her husband, Lloyd "Bud"; two brothers, Donald Stoner and his wife, Phyllis, and Robert Stoner and his wife, Carol; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all. Services will be held 11am Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Elizabeth Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 6 to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 108 E.
