Obituary

Phyllis Jean Harbaugh, 89, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 4, 2025. Born October 29, 1936 in Chewsville, MD, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Earl and Ellen Genevieve (Smith) Tracy.

She was a 1954 graduate of Hagerstown High School and continued her attendance at all high school reunions. Phyllis also enjoyed square dancing with friends and bowling for many years.

She retired from Home Federal Bank after 35 years of service. She was an 89-year life member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Chewsville, where she played the church organ for 65 years during Sunday services.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 66 years, J. William "Bill" Harbaugh; her sons, Gary A. Harbaugh and wife, Cherie of Hagerstown, and Jeffrey S. Harbaugh and wife, Laura of Williamsport; brother, Donald E. Tracy and wife, Anne of Ormond Beach, FL; grandchildren, Benjamin A. Harbaugh and wife, Kimberly, and Matthew A. Harbaugh, both of Greencastle, PA, Carlee V. Harbaugh and Tyler D. Harbaugh and wife, Rachelle, both of Hagerstown, MD; step grandchildren, Meghan Rager and husband, Butch of Hagerstown, and Allison Palmer and husband, Dominic of Williamsport; niece, Aubrey Munshi and husband, Fazel of Lynchburg, VA; nephews, Troy Tracy of Williamsport, Steven Harbaugh and wife, Carmen of Martinsburg, WV; and step greatgrandchildren, Wyatt, Colt, and Leah.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her nephew, Dwayne Harbaugh.

The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11am on Monday, December 8, 2025, with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
