PHYLLIS ILENE (RICKARD) FRANZINA, 81, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Born April 24, 1933 in Washington County, MD, she was the daughter of the late Reed and Laughlin (Loc) Lankford Rickard. Phyllis was employed with the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, MD until her retirement in 1993. She also worked for Hoover's Frozen Crme for 30 years. Phyllis was an avid gardener and loved growing many flowers. Her flower garden was her passion. She is survived by two daughters, Melinda Grenier and husband, Ken of Frederick, MD, and JoAnn Lipella and husband, Ron of Smithsburg, MD; one son, Norman Noble and wife, Kathleen of Greencastle, PA; eight grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by three sisters, Violet Bannister, Jean Eshelman, Shirley Reinschrieber; and one brother Reed Thomas Rickard Jr. The family would especially like to thank all the caregivers at Golden Living and Hospice of Washington County for the loving care they gave our mother. A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation or viewing. The family requests the omission of flowers.
