PHILLIP L. JONES succumbed to Parkinson's disease at his home, on October 13, 2012. He was the son of the late Dewey L. and Janice E. Jones. Phil was the husband of 47 years of Gloria J. Fisher Jones. He was a graduate of Hagerstown High School Class of 1956 and Hagerstown Junior College. Phil excelled in his career with the U.S. Air Force through the Air Force Academy, working top secret clearance missions flights with Strategic Air Command, working with NASA on the Hubble Telescope, and other numerous projects. He also found time to expand his knowledge in Government law. In 2001, he retired from the University of Baltimore Law School. Throughout his life, Phil was a noted and sought- after model train expert; dealing in train repairs, and refurbishing of all gauges. He was an entrepreneur, making and selling the Western Maryland model trains. He was owner and operator, for 51 years, of the P.J.'S Train Shop, customers were across the United States, England, Canada and France. His love of trains lead to many trips by his wife and children to points of interest, far and near. Surviving beside his wife are sons, Randel D. Moss, George Bradley Moss; daughters, Kimberly L. Moss Rankin and husband, Jeff, Lisa M. Jones Groves and husband, Robert, son, Eric L. Jones and wife, Ami; Mr. Jones boasts 9 grandchildren, Karley Hensley, Kendal Moss, Carrie Shindle, Christopher Shindle, Jennifer Kelly, Heather Groves, Alexander Jones, Alana Jones and Nathan Jones; great grandchildren include, Kaley Hensley, Khloe Hensley, Ethan Hiteshue, Madison Shindle, Shawn Eschinger, and Calien Jones. Mr. Jones is also survived by sister, Bonnie Miller. The family would like to extend their love, gratitude and gratefulness to the Hospice team of Tammi RN, BillyJo, CNA, Gretel NSW-RCSW-C and Chaplin Mike, for their unconditional love, support and caring. Also to Hospice volunteer, Mary Lou and friend and neighbor, Alicia Grillo. Thanks to all who were praying for Phil and to Pastor Dave Oravec, from Trinity, who conducted home communions. Phil's decision was to be cremated. There will be a gathering of friends, during which prayers and remembrances will be shared at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Maryland, on Thursday, October 18, 2012, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Those wishing to make donations, please do so to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of Washington County.
