Obituary

Peggy Ann Haney, 78, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

She was born on October 17, 1947, in Manchester, Connecticut, to the late Stanley and Mary (O'Neill) Lucas.

Peggy graduated from East Catholic High School in Manchester, Connecticut, in 1965 and completed the Manchester Memorial Hospital School of X-ray Technology program in 1967. She worked in radiologic technology and as a clinical assistant until 1996. Later in life, she returned to school and earned her registered nursing degree from Hagerstown Junior College in 1998. During her nursing career, Peggy worked at Williamsport Nursing Home and Ravenwood Nursing Home, where she compassionately cared for countless residents until her retirement in 2011.

Peggy married James R. Haney in 1968 in Manchester, Connecticut. They shared 44 happy years of marriage before his passing.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Peggy enjoyed spending time outdoors and with her grandchildren. She especially loved attending her grandson's baseball games.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca McNabb and her husband, Justin, and Jessica Skiles and her husband, Ryan; her two grandchildren, Guerin and Raegan Skiles; her two sisters, Judith (Walter) Lesiak and Mary (Joseph) Cosgrove; and her brother-in-law, David Quagge.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Quagge; her brother, Stanley Lucas; and her beloved dogs, Maggie and Katey.

Private graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery.
