Peggy J. Duffey, 83, of Hagerstown, MD, went home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on Monday, November 19, 2018. Born in Hagerstown on January 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith (Chaney) Kight. She had been employed by Sears credit department for 17 years and Lena Darner Boutique for 17 years as a bookkeeper. She sang with her husband as the Harmonizers for 35 years, singing for nursing homes and churches in the area, knowing that her gift of singing was a gift from God. She served God with it. She loved to read, to go shopping, travel to Myrtle Beach, and spend time with friends and her sisters-in-law. She had a sweet and gentle spirit, and she showered her family with so much love. She was always upbeat, happy, and generous. She will be missed so very much. She was an active member of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, serving as a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and singing in the choir. Survived by children, Scott and Becky Duffey, Craig Duffey, Joel Sr. and Kathy Duffey, Sue and Robert Wolfe Jr; grandchildren, Andrew and Courtney Duffey, Timothy and Audrey Hollenberg-Duffey, Kathy Ann Duffey, Sarah and Steve Stoy, Robert Wolfe III, Steven Wolfe; great-grandchildren, Camden Moffat, Trenton Stoy, Tucker Stoy, and a granddaughter to be born in January. Also survived by her brother, Timothy and Susan Kight, and sister-in-laws, Barbara Starliper, Barbara Duffey, and Miriam Beard; and very special neighbors, Beth and Herbert Reyes. Preceded in death by beloved husband, Ellis G. Duffey, sister-in-law, Eloise Miller, brother-in-law, David Duffey, and grandson, Joel Duffey Jr. Services will be held 11:00am Friday, November 23, 2018 at Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, 15 S. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, MD 21740. Rev. Loyal H. Vanderveer will officiate. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Donations may be sent to Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.
