Peggy Jean Cornell, 75, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born June 12, 1948, in Sharpsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late William H. Howard and Isabel (Ecton) Howard Fauble.

Peggy was previously employed by Londontown Factory in Boonsboro, MD and Coffman Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Reed Cornell; her only daughter, Peggy Sue Cornell Dearing; one sister, Susan K. Hite; and two brothers, Donald E. and William C. Howard.

Peggy is survived by two grandchildren that she raised, Michael and Meghan Edwards; four sisters, Nina M. Lassiter, Virginia Minnick, Linda Longerbeam, and Deborah York; one brother, Robert T. Howard; goddaughter, Debeejo York; and great-grandchildren that she was helping to raise.

Graveside services will be held Thursday May 2, 2024, at 1 pm at Rose Hill Cemetery 600 S. Potomac Ave, Hagerstown Md. 21740. Pastor Bill Divelbiss will officiate.
