Obituary

Pearl Virginia Stottlemyer, 81, passed away on Saturday 28 December 2024 due to heart failure, at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD. Born March 24,1943 in Sharpsburg, MD, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Maxine (Harrell) Chaney. She spent her last few years at the Warm Heart Assisted living facility in Mt. Airy, MD. She was happy there and had a great relationship with her caretakers and other residents.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly forty years, Joseph Stottlemyer. They had a great marriage, and his loss affected her deeply. Pearl is survived by her son, Darren Stottlemyer, his wife Deborah, and children, Hannah and Hadden; grandson, Jason Slager, Jason's wife Emily and sons Cole and Cameron.

She attended Williamsport High school and held various jobs through the years. She worked at the Hagerstown Shoe Factory, Certainteed, and had her own cleaning service which she ran for decades.

Pearl had a big personality. She was often the center of any conversation she was in, and everyone always knew when she arrived at a gathering. When she still lived in Hagerstown, she loved working on her yard and landscaping. She took great pride in her home and would often spend days at a time making everything picture perfect.

Funeral services will be 1pm Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD 21740. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
