Obituary

PAUL WAYNE SPRECHER, 83, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away at Meritus Medical Center on Friday, November 28, 2014. Born September 17, 1931 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Preston Victor and Alice Frances Ridenour Sprecher. Paul served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was employed as the superintendent at Fort Frederick State Park, retiring after 25 years. Paul was the founding missionary pastor of Grace Community Baptist Church in Manila, Utah. He was a member of Harvest Baptist Church where he taught a Sunday school class. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Paul is survived by his wife, Joyce Sprecher; three daughters, Christine Henry and husband, Bill, of Martinsburg, WV, Juanell Montgomery and husband, Kevin, of Hagerstown, MD, and Jo Carol Titmas and husband, Reggie, of Anderson, SC; three sons, Jay Sprecher and wife, Pam, of Afton, WY, Scott Sprecher of Hawkinsville, GA, and Matthew Sprecher and wife, Ginger, of Fayetteville, NC; one adopted son, Anthony Blackburn and wife, Cindy, of Hagerstown, MD; twenty-seven grandchildren and forty-seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine King. Services will be held 11am, Monday, December 1, 2014 at Harvest Baptist Church, 951 Woodland Way, Hagerstown, MD. Pastor James Moore will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Clear Spring, MD. Graveside military honors will be provided by Washington County AMVETS Post #10 and Marine Corp. League of Hagerstown. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 5pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD and at the church, one half hour prior to the service.
