PAUL VIRGIL MCGOWAN, 71, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born November 30, 1935 in Washington County, MD he was the son of the late Lawrence and Mearl Godlove McGowan. He was retired from St. Lawrence Cement Company. He was a member of the North American Rod and Gun Club, South Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Goodwill Athletic Club, Western Maryland Sportsman's Club, Williamsport Redmen and Mercersburg Moose Club. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Metz McGowan; one daughter, Paula and husband Robert Neff, Jr. of Falling Waters, WV; one son, Dan and wife Cheryl McGowan of Williamsport, MD; one sister, Lucille Keyser of Hagerstown, MD; two brothers, Joe Williams of Tennessee and Monk McGowan of Falling Waters, WV; three grandchildren Crista and husband Tony West, Jr., Kacy and husband Barry Shutts, Jr. and Nick McGowan; great grandson, Kyle West; Step Grandchildren, Michael Warrenfeltz, Brad Gossard and Katie Gossard; step great grandchildren Chance and Austin Warrenfeltz; his devoted pets Boots, Kalie and Lucky. He was preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Hoover; two brothers, Woody Williams and Deener McGowan. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown, Maryland. The Rev. James Lloyd will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
