Obituary

Patricia Suzanne Rider, affectionately known as Pat to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Born on April 26, 1943, in Washington County, Maryland, Pat's warm spirit and vivacious personality were a blessing to all who knew her throughout her 80 years of life.

Pat dedicated 45 years of her career to the Montgomery County Board of Education, where she worked as a computer programmer. Her diligence and expertise played a significant role in the advancement of educational technology in the county. Pat's professional accomplishments were matched by her active involvement in various associations, where she contributed her time and skills to enhance the community she served.

Beyond her professional life, Pat's heart was devoted to her family. She is survived by her sister, Toni O'Hara; her nieces, Lora Tucker and Shea O'Hara; her nephews, Mike Rider (Karen) and Liam O'Hara; her great-niece, Heather Streaker; and great-nephews, Mike Rider III, Eric Bronk, and Ricky Layton. Pat's love and guidance will be profoundly missed by them all. Pat is reunited with beloved Corgi, Teddy Bear, who was her constant companion and source of joy.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Meese Rider, her sister, Sandy Tucker; her brother, Mike Rider, Sr.; and her niece, Candace Bronk. The legacy of love and laughter they shared will continue to live on in the memories of those who loved them.

Pat's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her loving and fun nature. A collector of coins and owls, she found joy in the simple pleasure of discovering new additions for her collection. Travel was another of Pat's passions; she reveled in the adventure of cruises and the magic of Disney World, creating lasting memories on each voyage. An avid movie-goer, Pat appreciated the escapism and storytelling of the cinema. However, it was her love for animals that shone brightest, as she always had a kind word and a gentle touch for all creatures great and small.

Those who knew Pat will remember her for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her unwavering positivity. Her laughter was infectious, and her ability to find humor in the everyday made every moment with her a delight. Pat's kind-heartedness touched the lives of many, and her generous spirit will be sorely missed by friends, colleagues, and her cherished family.

Pat's life was a testament to the power of love and the joy of living each day with kindness and laughter. As we bid farewell to Patricia Suzanne Rider, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless ways she enriched our lives. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live fully, love deeply, and laugh often.

Pat's presence will be forever missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and comfort those she has left behind. Her legacy of love and joy will endure in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
