Obituary

Pastor John Paul Reno II, of Hagerstown, MD, went to be with Lord, Friday, October 2, 2026 at Johns-Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.

Born February 6, 1944 in Erie, PA, he was the son of the late John Paul Reno and Viola “Bobbie” (Gooden) Reno.

He earned his bachelor degrees from Central State University and Cedarville University. He was a devoted member and former pastor of Bible Brethren Church, where his faith and love for others were central to his life. His personal motto was, “Try to please God,” a simple yet meaningful expression of the way he sought to live each day. His heart’s deepest passion was missions, and he devoted many hours each week to prayer, serving and helping others. He was a “pastor for pastors,” offering encouragement, guidance, and spiritual support to those who served alongside him. His life was a true reflection of his faith and his desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

Pastor Reno is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn S. (Coppock) Reno; children, Laura Ellison (husband, Ron), Robynn Reno, John Reno (wife, Fernanda), Hannah Reno, and Mark T. Reno (wife, Rachel); three daughters, and; 12 grandchildren, Blake Ellison (wife, Madison), Brooke Ellison, Bethany Ellison, Bryce Ellison (wife, Harley), Stephen Reno, Roberto Reno, Katherine Reno, Deborah Reno, Patricia Reno, Carolyn Reno, Reuben Reno, and Benjamin Reno; great grandchild, Caleb Ellison; four brothers, Norman Reno, Loren Reno, Lee Reno, and William Reno.

A viewing will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 5pm to 8pm.

The funeral service will be held at Bible Brethren Church, 524 Ridge Avenue, Hagerstown, MD, on Friday, October 9, 2026 at 11am. Dr. Ray Bearden will officiate. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored if donations were made to Bible Brethren Church, Attention: One Million Tracts Project, 533 S. Burhans Blvd, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
