Nola Grace Frye, 87, of Hagerstown, MD, slipped into the arms of Jesus on December 29, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Mary Williams Propst and Luther Propst. She was the last surviving of their children, which included brothers, Norman Propst, Johnny P. Propst and Arlen B. Propst of WV, and one sister, Nellie Propst Hall Rongus Fender of FL. She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin H. Frye; two daughters, Sharon L. Smith and Vicki L. Bennaka; one son, David A. Frye; and one grandchild, Jesse E. Bennaka. She was also preceded in death by longtime friend, Norman Small. She is survived by one son, Kenneth W. Frye of Rock Hill Furnace, PA; two daughters, Penny C. Frye and Pamela K. Nicholl, both of Hagerstown; four grandchildren, Michael D. Frye and his wife Jamie Teach Frye of Big Pool MD, Jamey A. Frye and his wife Jessica Lewis Frye, and Kerrie L. Graff, all of Hagerstown, and Jordan KC Smith and his wife Danielle of Martinsburg; 11 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Nola was born in Sugar Grove WV and attended schools in Charles Town WV. Most of her work outside the home was in office environments. However, it was employment at Fairchild industries for her and Melvin that brought the family to Hagerstown. She eventually retired from Cedar Ridge Children's Home. She was a very loving and giving mother to her six children and counted them all as her strength. She attended Emmanuel Chapel in Smithsburg for many years where she started and sang in the choir. She also started the Women's Luncheon for ladies of the church. She was a faithful witness for Christ to all who knew her. She maintained a homestead in Maugansville for many years and loved it when the family all gathered there. She had a great love of music and said she always wished she had become a piano teacher. Another passion of hers was antiques and she had several booths set up in the local antique markets over the years. She played piano by ear, and even tried the bass guitar and drums. Next to her family, her greatest joy was gardening in her flower bed, which she greatly missed as she grew unable to tend. She also loved studying her Bible and often said "what an interesting time to be alive." She will be so missed, and the world will be a very different place without her. Services will be at Minnich Funeral Home at 415 E Wilson Blvd, Hagerstown, on Thursday January 6th, 2022, at 1pm. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery following the service. Her pastor, Rev Jonathan Laye will be officiating.
