Neshia Ruth Rector, age 84 of Hagerstown, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Meritus Medical Center, with family by her side.
Born June 20, 1939, in Missouri, she is the daughter of the late Charles Thomas and Vada Ruth Flowers. She grew up alongside her loving parents working as sharecroppers in the cotton fields of Missouri. She graduated from high school and moved to Maryland after meeting and marrying the love of her life Donald Lee Rector. Together they created a loving family to whom she was a wonderful homemaker.
Neshia was a member of the Hancock United Methodist Church, where in her younger days she was active in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She loved cooking, crafting, writing poetry and crocheting beautiful gifts for her family.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lori Leigh Rector.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald Lee Rector. Together they had a son, Rodney W. Rector, (Lucinda), a daughter Sherrie L. Heller (Ira), 4 grandchildren, Zachary R. Rector, (Jess), Ashley L. Neville (Bubba), Megan E. Miller, (Josh), and Eric A. Heller, 6 great-grandchildren, Ryan Nicole Neville, Eli Matthew Neville, Cody Robert Rector, Jacob Ryan Rector, Kyliann Jane Neville and Zane George Miller.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service at St.Andrew's Episcopal Church, 22 Cumberland Street, Clear Spring, Maryland on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 1:00pm. Fellowship will follow the service in Perry Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee
