Nemesio Ely Morales, 86, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on May 25, 2021 at Somerford House Place. He was born on July 17, 1934 in Santiago, Ilocos Sur, in the Philippines, to Calixto and Alejandra (Morales) Elefante. A physician for over 40 years, he retired from the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV, in 2000. He enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, cooking, and traveling. Nemesio is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria Pura; daughter, Irene Elefante-Brand; sons, Steven (Anne) Elefante and Jeffrey Morales; three grandchildren; brothers, Gregorio Elefante and Adolfo (Tina) Elefante; brother-in-law, Nacing Abaya, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Angel Elefante, and sister, Veneracion (Elefante) Abaya. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with Rev. Ernest Cibelli as celebrant. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 7, between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown.
