Obituary

Nancy Catherine Cummins, 89, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was born on October 17, 1934 to the late Frank Barr and Martha Kinsey Barr. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, and grandmother.

Nancy was a 1952 graduate of Hagerstown High School. She met her husband Max at the skating rink where they enjoyed doing the 2-step and waltz. She worked at Fairchild Aircraft, M/L Electric Co., and was a school crossing guard. She was a current member of Christ Community Church in Williamsport, MD and a past member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hagerstown. While at Christ Lutheran Church she sang in the choir and played piano in Sunday School for over 55 years. She was involved in the Lutheran Church Women's group and Christian Endeavor. She spent many hours helping prepare church dinners and making candy for fundraisers. She showed her love for family and friends with the countless meals she prepared and served. Every Fastnacht Day she made over 90 fastnachts and gifted them to people she loved.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Marion "Max" Cummins, brother, Jack Barr, sisters, Carol Barr and Inez Staeblein, brothers-in-law, Edward Staeblein and Gregory Cummins, and sister-in-law, Barbara Holder.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Cornelius (Randy) and Stacie Mullenix (Daniel), her grandchildren, Adam Cornelius (Megan) and Amy Prince (Nash), and she was blessed with five great-grandchildren, Jackson, Max, Charlotte, Olivia, and Gavin, her sister, Jean Schlotterbeck (Allen), brother-in-law, John Holder, sister-in-law, Evelyn Barr, and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 11:00 at Christ Community Church, 300 S. Artizan Street in Williamsport.

Interment will take place at Beaver Creek Cemetery in Hagerstown.
