Obituary

Millard “Gene” Eugene Stone, Jr., 80, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born July 15, 1946, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Millard Eugene Stone, Sr. and Virginia Margaret (Grimm) Stone.

Gene was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Joan Stone.

Gene proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a true patriot who loved both his family and his country. He worked for TriState Electrical for many years. He had a great sense of humor. He had a way of making people feel welcome and was known for his willingness to help others and make sure those around him had what they needed.

Gene enjoyed sharing breakfast with the “West End Boys” and was a devoted Baltimore Orioles fan. He was a past president of the Moose Club and a member of the VFW and Eagles Club. Above all, Gene was a loving and devoted family man who took great pride in those he loved. Gene through the years enjoyed playing cards with the Pereschuk family.

He is survived by two sisters, Linda Clark and Saundra Martin; one brother, Dale Stone; three daughters, Diana, Melissa, and Brenda; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was preceded in death by two sisters, Lisa and Sherry; and three brothers, John, Donnie, and Donald.

A viewing will be held at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Minnich Funeral Home. Pastor Allen Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be provided by Joint Veterans Council and Marine Corp League of Washington County.
