Obituary

Mildred Rebecca Stahl Eckard, 93, of Hagerstown, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022. She was born on September 10, 1929 to the late Frederick Hartman Stahl and Alma Murfin Stahl Kellner in McVeytown, PA.

Mildred attended elementary, and middle school in McVeytown, and was a graduate of Hagerstown High School in 1947. During high school, she worked for Leiter Brothers and continued on to work for Foltz Manufacturing for several years. Mildred worked for Hagerstown Trust Bank for 25 years until her retirement in 1993. She was proud to be a longtime member of Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown where she served as a Deacon, an Elder, and Treasurer for many years as well as helping with everything from greeting guests to scheduling the floral displays for the church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Granville William Eckard, her daughter, Carolyn Rebecca Eckard Irby, her sister, Sara Ann Stahl Chappelear Bentley, and her cousin, Nancy Hammond Murfin.

She is survived by her sons, William G. Eckard and his wife, Laura, and Daryl F. Eckard and his wife, Barbara, her grandchildren, Natalie R. Eckard, Nicole C. Eckard, Josh Cline and his wife, Charlyn, and Sara Wolf and her husband, Anthony, her great-grandchildren, Aryn (House) Willoughby and her husband, Colton, and Brook Cline, her sister-in-law, Pauline C. Sennett, and many other beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends are welcomed for a visitation on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 12:00pm – 1:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard in Hagerstown.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, following the visitation at the funeral home. Pastor Mike Bennett will officiate.

Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown.
