Michael "Mike" Grey
Mullenix
Dec 8, 1944 — Aug 19, 2023
Michael Grey Mullenix (Mike) passed away August 19, 2023 at home in Funkstown, MD.
Mike was born in Hagerstown on December 8, 1944 to Curtis Edgar Mullenix and Ellen Grey Mullenix. He graduated from Williamsport High in 1962, then served in the Marines for four years. After 25 years, he retired from Western Maryland Supply.
He was a member of the Salem United Method Church. He and his wife, Barbara, were members of the Boot Kickers.
Serving the community was important to Mike. He served as a past National Little League Coach in Hagerstown, and more recently as the Charter Organizational Representative of the Funkstown Scouts Troop 23 and 123 (present). For 13 years, he served as a Community Rescue Service member. He donated his time and support to the local bloodmobile. And with a sparkle in his eye, he enjoyed representing Santa Clause for many years throughout Washington County.
As a proud veteran, he was an active member (1985-2023) of the Funkstown America Legion Post 211 and served as Commander (1993-1994) and currently serving as Chaplin (1994 – present). He was a member of the Vietnam Last Man Standing Club and the Williamsport Red Men Tribe #84.
Mike was devoted to his heavenly Lord, his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Barbara Mullenix, sons Mike Mullenix (Melissa), Alan Williamson (Kelly), and Jason Mullenix (Amber), grandchildren Cameron Hambleton, Johnathan Williamson (Tresha), Kayson Mullenix, Alyssa Mullenix and Breanne Mullenix, great-grandchildren Addie Williamson, Aspen Williamson, and Brayden Williamson, and his sisters (Pat Waugh, Barbara Wereoff, and Heidi Smith), and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis Edgar Mullenix Sr., and Ellen Grey Mullenix, and his brother, Curtis Mullenix Jr.
A celebration of life will be scheduled later. Mike chose to donate his body to science for the Maryland's Anatomical Body Donation Program. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Salem United Methodist Church in Keedysville, MD, or the Funkstown America Legion Post 211 to a charity of your choice.
