Obituary

Michael E. Buhrman passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2024, at the age of 69, in Hagerstown, MD, after a battle with cancer. Born on June 23, 1955, in Superior, WI, Mike was a man who lived his life with a deep sense of community, a love for music, and a passion for sports.

Mike's early years were spent in the town of his birth, where he was raised by his late parents, Marvin and Myrtle Buhrman. He graduated from South Hagerstown High School, a place where he made lifelong friends and memories. Mike carried the values of his upbringing throughout his life, values that were reflected in his commitment to his family, work, congregation, and hobbies.

After high school, Mike dedicated 30 years of service to the City of Hagerstown Water Department. His work ethic and dedication to the community were evident to all who knew him. He was not only a valued employee but also a friend to many of his coworkers. Mike's commitment to service extended after his professional life as he served as the Sexton of Otterbein United Methodist Church for 15 years. His role at the church was a testament to his faith and his desire to serve others.

Mike's love for music was a defining aspect of his life. He found joy in playing handbells and singing in choirs at church and with the Hagerstown Choral Arts. An avid sports enthusiast, Mike was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Baltimore Orioles. He also loved playing golf and walking the course with friends.

Mike's family was the cornerstone of his life. He leaves behind a loving wife, Suzanne Buhrman, with whom he shared countless cherished moments. He was a devoted father to his sons, Matthew and Patrick. Mike's legacy continues through his granddaughter, Morgan Buhrman, and his grandson, Jack Buhrman. His brother, Brian Buhrman, will hold dear the memories of a lifetime shared with Mike.

Those who knew Mike will remember him for the kindness he shared with many, the compassion he gave to the ones he loved, and the love he uniquely shared. He was a man who brought laughter and light into the lives of those around him. Mike's presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. As we say goodbye to Michael E. Buhrman, let us celebrate the life he lived and the love he gave. His journey on this earth was marked by the joy he found in simple pleasures, the strength he showed in the face of adversity, and the love he had for his family. Mike's story is one of a life well-lived, and he will be remembered with fondness and admiration by all who knew him.
