MERLE C. HOFFMAN, 91, of Sharpsburg Pike, Hagerstown, MD, passed on January 13, 2007 at the Washington County Hospital. Born March 20, 1915 in Scalp Level, PA, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Bertha Hoffman. He worked for Arnett's Garage in Hagerstown for many years before joining Mack Truck. His wife of 62 years, Dorothy Mae (Davis) Hoffman preceded him in death in 2004. They were both members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Hagerstown. He is survived by his daughters, Linda Hoffman-Smith and husband Rick Smith of Tucson, AZ and Judy Hoffman-Bolton and her husband Todd Bolton of Smithsburg, MD; granddaughter Laurie Whittington, grandsons Graham and Spencer Bolton; and great grandchildren Jordan and Ian Whittington. Services will be held Tuesday morning, January 16 at 11:00am at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Mount Aetna Road, Hagerstown. Bishop Carson will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, January 15 from 7:00-9:00pm at Minnich Funeral Home on E. Wilson Blvd in Hagerstown. A viewing will be held at the church one hour before the service.
