Melvin Eugene Wigfield, 80, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at VIVA Senior Living.

Born August 17, 1945, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Melvin Keefer and Thelma Louise (Eichelberger) Wigfield.

Melvin graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1963 and proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from Hagerstown Junior College, followed by a Bachelor's degree from Coppin State University in Baltimore in 1981. In 1990, he completed a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Shippensburg University. Melvin was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church in Williamsport.

He is survived by his two sons, Michael "Scotty" Scott Wigfield and Daniel "DJ" Jason Wigfield; his daughter, Loni Wigfield; his sister, Rebecca and her husband, Gary; his brother, Richard Wigfield and his wife, Cheryl; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Singer.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 17636 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Kimberly Nunberg-Wadel will officiate.
