MELVIN ABRAHAM BUTTS, 92, of 1415 Sherman Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Washington County Hospital. Born September 18, 1917 in Washington County, Maryland, he was the son of the late John Melvin and Grace Swain Butts. He was employed for over thirty years by Robert F. Zeigler as a sheet metal worker. He was a Ham Radio Operator, and loved to paint pictures and build clocks. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Betty Semler Butts; two daughters, Octavia Starry of Hagerstown, and Tina Hultslander, and her husband, Brian, of Funkstown, Maryland; one granddaughter, Courtney Starry of Hagerstown; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Melvin A. Butts, Jr., and one daughter, Rita Sue Butts. Funeral services will be held at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown on Friday at 9:30 a. m. Rev. Gene W. Renner will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p. m.
