Obituary

Melissa Kay Morehead, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2025, at the age of 43. Born on May 18, 1981, in Frederick, MD, Melissa's infectious humor and love for life's journeys made her a cherished presence in the lives of all who knew her. Her untimely departure has left a void that can never be filled, yet her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have shared in her life's path.

Melissa, known affectionately as "Missy" to her family, was a wife to her husband, David, and mother to her three daughters, McKayla, Ella, and Kenna, and her son, Elijah. Her love extended to her stepchildren, Davion, David III, Rosaleigh, Donnavin, and Dylan, whom she embraced with open arms and an open heart. She was a treasured daughter to Tina Bailey and her stepfather, Ed, as well as to her father, Kevin Fox, and stepmother, Marianne. Her sisters, Rebecca Ott and Mary Bailey, stepbrother, Wyatt Smith, shared in the joys and sorrows of life with Melissa, creating memories that will be held close forever. Melissa's warmth and care also touched her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will miss her dearly.

After graduating from Middletown High School in 1999, Melissa's passion for helping others led her to a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her empathy and compassion were the hallmarks of her profession, as she brought comfort and care to those in need, embodying the true spirit of service.

Melissa's zest for life was evident in her personal interests. She found peace and contentment in her walks in the park and cherished the time spent outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Flowers were a particular joy for Melissa; their vibrant colors and delicate fragrances reflected the beauty she saw in the world and the delight she took in life's simple pleasures.

Friends and family will remember Melissa for her sense of humor and her adventurous spirit. She was the one who could always be counted on to lighten the mood with a well-timed joke or to suggest an impromptu excursion that would lead to an unforgettable adventure. Her laughter was contagious, and her willingness to explore the unknown was an inspiration to many.

Melissa's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the courage to embrace life with open arms. She lived her days with a sense of wonder and a belief in the goodness of people. Her influence will continue to be felt, and her memory will be a guiding light for her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As the sun sets on Melissa's time with us, we take comfort in the knowledge that her journey was one filled with joy, love, and a boundless enthusiasm for life. We bid farewell to a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the power of positivity and the strength of the human spirit. Melissa will be deeply missed, but her story will be told with smiles and laughter, just as she would have wanted.

In honoring Melissa's life, we reflect on the words of an unknown author that resonate with her essence: "Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved one's shine down to let us know they are happy." Tonight, as we look up at the stars, we find solace in the thought that Melissa is among them, shining brightly, guiding us with her light, and encouraging us to live life to the fullest.
