Obituary

MAURICE COSTELLO JENKINS, SR., 82, of 17926 Garden Lane, Hagerstown, Maryland, died Friday, July 27, 2012 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Born December 21, 1929, in Hagerstown, Maryland, he was the son of the late Vernon and Ida Mae Jones Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Lucille Jenkins on September 4, 2001. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. army. He was employed with Mack Trucks Inc. for thirty-six years retiring in 1999. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He was a member of the Washington County AMVETS Post 10, Funkstown American Legion Post 211 and Morris Frock American Legion Post 42. He is survived by one daughter, Hope M. Norris and companion, Duane Bartles of Hagerstown; one son, Maurice C. Jenkins, Jr. and wife, Janet of Hagerstown; one sister, Genevieve Nalley of Hagerstown; a special friend, Dee Hahn of Hagerstown; one granddaughter, Karen Lawhorne and husband, Paul; three grandsons, Jason Jenkins and wife, Ana, Matthew Jenkins and wife, Dana and Joshua Norris and wife, Jennifer; nine great grandchildren, Chloe Knight, Carmen Knight, Kennedi Lawhorne, Skylar Norris, Giada Jenkins, A.J. Norris, Solomon Jenkins, Talan Lawhorne and Cruz Jenkins. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Jenkins; one sister, Ann Hovis and two brothers, Vernon Jenkins and Weston Jenkins. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Steven McCullough will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Washington County AMVETS Post 10 and Marine Corp League of Hagerstown. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m.
