Mary Irene Vera, 86, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Meritus Medical Center.

Born December 10, 1939 in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jose E. and Mildred Irene (Heefner) Vera.

Mary retired from a career in the federal government, working in Washington, DC, at the Pentagon, the White House, and the US Embassy in Germany.

She is survived by her sister, Deborah (Debbie) J. Smith and her husband, Brian; brother, Jose "Joe" E. Vera, Jr; two nieces; three great-nieces, and one great-nephew.

The graveside service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Salem Reformed Church Cemetery, 13182 Salem Church Road, Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Henry Marquiss will officiate.
