Mary Frances Vanscoy, 63, of Hancock, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD. She was born September 19, 1952, in Hagerstown, MD. She was a 1970 graduate of North Hagerstown High School and held several positions, including medical transcriptionist and insurance fraud investigator. She attended Hancock Church of God in Hancock and Haven Lutheran Church in Hagerstown. She was an avid collector of teddy bears. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her many friends. She is survived by her brother, C. William Vanscoy, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two sisters, Linda R. Berg of Hernando, FL, and Patricia Souders of Hagerstown; four nieces and nephews, Jennifer L. Roath of Land O'Lakes, FL; Tricia Hovermale of Smithsburg; Mary Daily of Forrest, VA; and George Souders, Jr, of Waynesboro, PA; one aunt, Ruth Needham, of Mechanicsburg, PA; and numerous cousins, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23 at Haven Lutheran Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County, MD.
