Obituary

Mary Louise (Saxon) Strempski, 84, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Mary was born in Towanda, PA, on March 8, 1941, to the late Floyd H. Saxon and Elizabeth Silverstrim.

She retired from Tandy Corporation (Radio Shack Distribution), where she worked for many years.

In her younger years, Mary enjoyed camping and traveling up and down the East Coast, competing in archery tournaments at both local and national levels. Her love for the outdoors continued throughout her life. She was a longtime and dedicated member of the Izaak Walton League in Clear Spring, MD, where she helped run the kitchen and coordinate still target shoots and archery events.

In recent years, Mary spent her summers camping by the river in Falling Waters, savoring peaceful days and the simple pleasures of nature. She also loved golfing, traveling with her husband, and spending cherished time with her grandchildren during retirement.

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, James Strempski, Sr.; her son, James Strempski, Jr. of Hagerstown, MD; and her daughters, Tracy (Mike) Speaker of Williamsport, MD, and Billie Jo (Zane) Bagnell of Inwood, WV. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Michael Speaker, Patrick Speaker, Kiana Bagnell, Haleigh Bagnell, and Makayla Bagnell; great-grandchildren, Savannah Speaker and Camden Speaker; her sister, Sally Dunn of Towanda, PA; and her brothers, Floyd Saxon of Spring Valley, CA, Jon Rineer of Towanda, PA, and Randy Rineer of Towanda, PA.

Mary also leaves behind her cherished dog, Buddy, who brought her much joy and companionship in her later years.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The service will be officiated by Erie Giancola. Burial will follow at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 6-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
