MARY CATHERINE SHAFFER, 96 of Ravenwood Assisted Living, Hagerstown, died on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the Washington County Hospital. Born September 26, 1913 in Hagerstown, MD., she was the daughter of the late John Lester and Mary Kate Myers Shaffer. She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School in 1931 and Hagerstown Business College in 1941. She worked at Statton Furniture Manufacturing Company for 2 years, and then at Maidstone Interiors for 15 years. She retired from Maryland Department of Employment Security. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She is survived by a nephew, Charles, L. Shaffer, Sr. of Boonsboro, Md., and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. Rev. Eric A. Norgard will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8p.m.
