MARY ELEANOR RIPPEON, 89, formerly of West Side Avenue, Hagerstown, died on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Western Maryland Hospital. Born March 23, 1921 in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Carl R. and Georgia Ethel Gibney Fritz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Rippeon who died August 2, 1990. She was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church. She was formerly employed with Interwoven. She was known as the "Snowball Lady". She and her husband operated a snowball stand in the West End from the 60's through the 80's. She was a charter member of Hits & Misses Bowling League for 47 years. Her hobby was collecting cow memorabilia. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Rose and Raymond Holton of Hagerstown; daughter-in-law, Susan Rippeon of Hagerstown; two grandchildren, Scott Rippeon and wife Maureen and Chris Rose and Kelly Michael; and a great grandson, Caden Rose. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard W. Rippeon and a grandson, Keith Rose. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd. Rev. Jerry L. Lowans will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
