Mary Jean Rider, 92, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was affectionately known by her family as Beanie.

Born July 10, 1932 in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ulysses Grant and Edna Florence (Gearhart) Rider.

She graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1950. She worked for Potomac Edison for 52 years and 10 months with over 40 years of perfect attendance. She volunteered at Greencastle-Antrim Primary School.

A woman of deep faith and a devoted Christian, she was a lifetime member of Salem Avenue Assembly of God and later attended Good Shepherd Ministries.

Beanie is survived by her niece, Barbara J. Rider and her companion, Bill Lennartz; great nieces, Michelle Masser and her husband, Brian, Melissa Kent, Mindy Kent, and Sherry Snyder; and 12 great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Snyder; brothers, Thurman G. Rider and Ernest Richard Rider; a niece, Sarah Shaver; and nephew, Johnny Snyder.

A graveside service will be held at 11am on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Rose Hill Cemetery, 600 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD. Rev. Mark Sandell will officiate.
