Mary Ann Carter, 73, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

Born December 11, 1952 in Olney, MD, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Herbert Carter and Mary Elizabeth (Gant) Carter.

She is survived by her sister, Rosie Carter Thomas (husband, Robert Thomas); brother, Herbert Carter (wife, Melody Carter); nieces and nephews, Sonja Carter-Taylor, Charmain Carter, Desiree Prather, Rosalind Carter, Ralphael Chillious, Leslie Ann Carter Anderson; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; as well as a host of friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by three siblings, Dorothy, Alice, and Kathleen.

Mary enjoyed shopping, trying her luck at Bingo, the casino, and playing the lottery. She loved vacationing, spending quality time with her family, and listening to Go-Go music. She also made a point of staying connected with her coworkers, keeping those relationships strong over the years. Affectionately known as “Queen” and “Couga,” Mary had a personality and presence that made her memorable to those who knew and loved her.

The Visitation will be at 10am on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Memorial Service will begin at 11am.
