MARY FRANCES BOWMAN, 103, of Hagerstown, MD passed away Monday, December 7, 2015 at Somerford Place in Hagerstown, MD. Born November 16, 1912 in Ellicott City, MD, she was the daughter of the late Maude Estelle (Stewart) and Frank S. Bowman, Sr. Mary retired from Washington County Hospital. She was a lifetime member of Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, MD. Mary is survived by one nephew, Frank S. Bowman III and wife Susan of Boonsboro, MD; one niece, Linda Groo of Potomac Falls, VA; three great nieces, Diana Thornburgh and husband, Allen of Purcellville, VA; Joanna Smith and husband, Aaron, of Salem, VA, and Jodi Morgan and husband Corey of Hagerstown, MD; one great nephew, Todd Bowman and wife Amy of Winchester, VA; five great-great nephews, Kyle Bowman, Luke Thornburgh, Mason Thornburgh, Zachary Thornburgh, and Aldin Smith; and five great-great nieces, Jenna Bowman, Jillian Thornburgh, Sadie Thornburgh, Bethany Thornburgh, and Lauren Smith. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Stewart Bowman and Frank Bowman, Jr.; three sisters, Lillian Starkey, Ardelle Zahn, and Hilda Bowman; one nephew-in-law, David Groo; one niece, Virginia Starkey, and one great niece, Laura Groo. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, December 11, 2015 at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. Pastor Rick Hill will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
