MARTHA JEAN AYERS, 70, of 9706 Driftwood Lane, St. James Village, Hagerstown, Maryland, died on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Meritus Medical Center. Born November 5, 1942, in West Union, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Paul Eugene and Neva Akins Martin. She was employed by MCI in Hagerstown, as a commitment officer. She enjoyed many hobbies, such as quilting, crafts, gardening, and video games. She had an extensive bear collection. She is survived by one son, Julian V. (Jay) Ayers, III of Hancock, Maryland; one daughter; a granddaughter, Angelique E. L. Ayers, and a grandson, Alexander V. Ayers, both of Hancock; two brothers, Danny L. Martin of Bristol, West Virginia, and John Paul Martin of Pennsboro, West Virginia; one niece; one nephew; and a best friend, roommate and companion, Mary (Pepper) Probst of Hagerstown. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a. m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Diana Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
