Obituary

Martell Cooper, a proud father, loving son, supportive brother, and loyal friend passed away much too soon on July 17, 2024 at the age of 36. Born on May 31, 1988, in the city of Baltimore, Martell's friendly nature and boundless creativity became his hallmark, leaving a permanent mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

Martell graduated from Williamsport High School in 2007 and went on to master the art of precision and patience as a machine operator at Pete & Gerry's. But it was outside the factory walls that he truly shone. His passion for cooking could turn a simple meal into a gourmet feast, and his love for music, art, and photography painted his world in vivid colors.

Martell's journey through life was a testament to his character. As a child, he and his siblings spent years traveling with their parents with the U.S. Military. They have fond memories of living in South Korea and traveling to Japan. While moving around could be challenging to some, Martell was always quick to make friends wherever he went. As he grew into adulthood, Martell was known as a positive, encouraging, and loyal friend- even in the face of life's challenges. He would give his last to help anyone.

His brother Antoine was his best friend and closest confidant. Their relationship was deep, genuine, and filled with inside jokes and sayings. They enjoyed sharing their newest recipes and favorite spices, taking the kids on outings, sharing ideas for personal growth, and often spoke in Spanish to one another as a part of their special bond. Martell also enjoyed spending time with his baby sister Tytianna, who he affectionately referred to as "T". Martell & T had a close and strong bond with lots of laughter. They spent time watching movies and tv shows, gaming on Xbox, and taste testing his many culinary creations together. Martell had a very close relationship with his mother, they spoke often about life events, relationships, childrearing, ethnic history, photography, and food. They often watched food videos together and exchanged Pinterest recipes. Martell always ended his calls with his mother by saying "Bye, Bye Fo Now!"

Martell's family was the cornerstone of his life. The role he cherished most was being a father to his son, Marley Makhi Banks-Cooper ~his sidekick. Their bond was a masterpiece of love and laughter. They spent time together gaming, completing various creative projects, visiting friends and family, playing basketball, and throwing football. Martell often shared how important it was to him to be the best father he could be, and he was trying hard to fulfill that. He will be missed dearly by his parents Maureen Turner and Antoine Cooper I, brother Antoine Cooper II and fiancé Celena Russ, sister Tytianna Cooper, grandmother Delores Turner, grandfather Lloyd Cooper, Uncle William Turner Jr and wife Angelique, Uncle Dwayne Cooper and wife Danielle, Uncle Byron Cooper and wife Sandy, nephews and nieces (Reece Russ-Cooper, Amina Russ-Cooper, Laia Russ-Cooper, and Trase Cooper-Sasse), and many other loving extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather William Turner Sr. and paternal grandmother Edna Cooper.

Martell, we know you will be watching over all of us. We love you so much!
