MARIANNE "SITA" FRENKEL, 69, of 6606 Hardwood Lane, Keedysville, Maryland, died on Friday, May 19, 2006. Born February 28, 1937 in Traunstein, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Marianne Socher Sollinger. She was Director of the Divine Life Society of Maryland. She taught Yoga classes, workshops, and retreats for more than fifty years. In 1990, she became an ordained monastic given the name Swami Gurudevananda. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Dade Canfield of Averill Park, New York, and Christina Lyford of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; one son, Marcus Frenkel of Hagerstown, Maryland; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a special friend, Samarpana (Marcia Davies) of Keedysville, Maryland; and many other devoted students and friends. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at the MINNICH FUNERAL HOME, 415 East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. Family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
