MARGARET VIRGINIA MARTZ, 89, resident of Julia Manor, formerly of Walnut Towers in Hagerstown, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014. Born March 18, 1925 in Sharpsburg, she was the daughter of the late James Albert and Anna Mae Springer Griffith. Her husband, William Martz, whom she married on February 3, 1945, preceded her in death on October 1, 1979. Margaret was a homemaker. She was a former member of the Boonsboro Church of God. Margaret is survived by two sons, Edward L. Martz and wife Deborah of Boonsboro, and Leroy Wayne Martz and wife Sherry of Keedysville; three sisters, Elsie Flook and husband Clarence of Hagerstown, Della Long of Keedysville, and Helen Easterday of Boonsboro; three grandchildren, Timothy L Martz and wife Heather, Stacey Smith and husband Michael, Jr, all of Boonsboro, and Courtney Martz of Florida; four great-grandchildren, Dylan and Dalton Martz, and Kaylee and Michael Smith, III. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Powell, Martha Guessford, Pauline Ecker, and Nellie Griffith; four brothers, Albert Griffith, Elmer Griffith, Howard Griffith, and Silas Griffith. Services will be held 11am, Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. Rev. Jack Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Boonsboro Cemetery.
