Margaret Green Kemp, 98, of Williamsport, MD, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Homewood of Williamsport.
Born May 5, 1926, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Helen (Binkley) Green and Bernard Fuller Green, of Hagerstown, MD.
Margie was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown for 82 years. She served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School, and loved spending time with the Presbyterian Women Group, and the members of the Ruth Circle. She was also a member of The Women's Club for over 50 years, the Crossroads Garden Club, and the Historical Society.
Margie graduated from Hagerstown High School in the class of 1944. She met the love of her life, William (Bill) Kemp, at Maryland Institute of Art, in Baltimore, MD. They were married October 25, 1947, at the Presbyterian Church of Hagerstown, and were together 59 years. Bill, her beloved husband, passed away February 25, 2007.
Margie worked for many years as a Technical Writer for Harry Kahn Associates, and also worked at Fairchild, in the Drafting Department.
Margie and Bill enjoyed many happy retirement years, making miniature dollhouse furniture, and traveling to shows up and down the east coast. Margie loved collecting shells, fossils, and minerals, and was happy spending time in her gardens. She also loved family camping trips with her four children, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Margie is survived by two daughters, Karen Fries and husband Jerry, of Anderson, SC, and Sue Troxell and husband Timothy, of Hagerstown; two sons, David Kemp and wife Nora, of Greensburg, PA, and Stephen Kemp and wife Carol, of Shepherdstown, WV; six grandchildren, Katharine Zeglen, Jennifer Dumbeck, Sarah Lowry, Ryan Fries, Jeff Fries, and Conner Troxell; and one great-granddaughter, Emilia Evanitsky.
Margie is preceded in death by a brother, William B. Green
A private graveside service will be held for the family.
