MABEL M. HUGHES, 79, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at Coffman Nursing Home. Born August 16, 1934 in Washington County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Josephine Everitts Clatterbuck. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mabel was so well loved for her humor, generosity and caring spirit. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Edward W. Hughes; a daughter, Pamela Harbaugh, and husband, Barry of Hagerstown, MD; a son, Carl Hughes and Mona Butala of Rockdale, Texas; five grandchildren, Jennifer Allen and husband, Ray of Daniels, WV Beth Ross and husband, Jay of Daniels, WV, Rebecca Neely and husband, Eric, of Martinsburg, WV, Meghan Harbaugh and Lauren Harbaugh, both of Hagerstown, MD; eight great- grandchildren, Brett Allen, Christopher Allen, Hunter Allen, James Ross, Wesley Ross, Aaron Ross, Emily Neely and Brady Neely. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two children Michael W. Hughes and Cathy M. Hughes, as well as her sister, Carlene H. Harper. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 East Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, MD. The Rev. Robert V. Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital, in memory of Mabel M. Hughes, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38015.
